The tenth day of the festival brings together theatre classics, contemporary literature, and documentary theatre
The tenth day of the festival will be dedicated to great stories and important social issues. On the 70th anniversary of Bertolt Brecht’s death, the roundtable discussion Time(less) Brecht will spark a reflection on new and older translations of his works and on why his plays and theatrical ideas remain relevant even today.
In the competition program, the Koper Theatre will stage the play Ocean Sea, based on the novel of the same name by Alessandro Baricco. This poetic story about the unusual inhabitants of a remote seaside resort explores, through a tapestry of lost loves, shipwrecks, and the search for salvation, humanity’s relationship with the sea, which becomes the central protagonist of the play.
The evening will feature a documentary celebration of Article 55 of the Mladinsko Theatre, which, through archival material and testimonies, looks back at the creation of the Slovenian constitution and the struggle of women’s and feminist movements to preserve reproductive rights. The festival day will be rounded out by The Glass Menagerie, produced by UL AGRFT, as part of the Student Theatre programme.
