Join us as a volunteer!

26. marec 2026

Maribor Theatre Festival is Slovenia’s central theatre festival, enriching the national theatre and cultural landscape for more than half a century. It takes place in the first half of June at the Slovenian National Theatre in Maribor. The programme includes a selection of performances by Slovenian institutional and independent producers within both the competition and accompanying programmes, invited international productions, student theatre, and professional events organized in collaboration with Slovenian and international partners. The festival lasts fourteen days and is attended by numerous local and international guests, including selectors of foreign festivals, artistic and programme directors, journalists, as well as other interested and professional audiences.

The preparation and execution of the festival offer many opportunities to gain experience and new knowledge, discover new content and meet new people, all of which contribute to the development of personal competences. This is why we are once again inviting volunteers who are willing to become part of the festival experience, strengthen the festival team, and gain insight into behind-the-scenes processes as well as festival preparation and execution.

This year’s festival will take place between 8 and 21 June 2026 at various locations across Maribor. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to engage in different types of work:

  • assisting in programme implementation,

  • guiding and informing visitors,

  • taking care of guest artists,

  • supporting festival promotion and distributing materials,

  • assisting with the technical execution of events,

  • providing support in logistics and coordination of festival venues.

Festival activities take place throughout the day, meaning that the work schedule is flexible. Assistance will already be needed from the end of April and approximately one week before the festival begins.

The requirement for participation is being over 18 years of age.

We offer our volunteers:

  • a formal volunteer agreement,

  • a certificate of completed volunteer work including the number of hours and a description of tasks, which can be used as a reference,

  • mentorship support and guidance,

  • reimbursement of travel costs equivalent to a monthly city bus pass (€36), provided that at least four shifts are completed,

  • a meal allowance of €7.40 for days with more than four consecutive hours of work,

  • free access to selected theatre performances within the festival programme,

  • free participation in other festival activities, social gatherings, and an experience that will surely stay with you.
