Transport: Cargo sheds light on the pressing issues of growing road freight transport, which has increased by as much as 30 per cent in recent years, with roads around the world witnessing between 20 and 50 million trucks daily. The production takes us behind the scenes of global commerce where speed and accessibility encourage economic growth but at the same time bring negative consequences, such as overexploitation of natural resources, environmental pollution and the violation of workers’ rights. The story follows a driver whose employer puts him under significant time pressure, and the obstacles on the road only increase his stress. The night brings an accidental encounter, and the morning cuts into it with a chilling moment that triggers a thorough consideration about moral and ethical questions and, above all, about our responsibility in the exploitative and exhausting hyper-consumerist world.

The production is a part of the international cooperation project Transport which was created on the initiative of the Slovenian director Tin Grabnar in the season 2024/2025. It connects six theatres from Slovenia (Ljubljana Puppet Theatre and Maribor Puppet Theatre), Poland (Białostocki Teatr Lalek), Estonia (Eesti Noorsooteater), Lithuania (Klaipėdos lėlių teatras) and Czechia (Divadlo ALFA). The project is supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
