Tomaž Pandur – The Sky Above Madrid

The film was created in collaboration between the Regional Broadcasting Centre Maribor and the Documentary Film Department of RTV Slovenija.

The documentary film The Sky Above Madrid is conceived as a multilayered portrait of a theatre creator who was at the same time a thinking, sensitive human – Tomaž Pandur, who, as a young author with a strong belief in the ritual power of theatre, left an indelible mark on Slovenian theatre, and later, internationally. The film not only illuminates the key milestones of his career but also opens the intellectual and aesthetic horizon that shaped his theatre poetics. Pandur first encountered theatre in the Maribor high school group Tespisov voz (The Cart of Thespis), then continued with his direction of the cult classic Scheherazade at the Mladinsko Theatre in Ljubljana, eventually reaching the European theatre landscape.
