Borštnik Performative #3 is a festival version of Performative Day #3 that happened on 21 February 2025 at Trubarjeva 3 (UL AGRFT). The original impetus for Performative Day is to explore and expand the performative potentials beyond classical or dramatic norms and to offer students a creative space that allows artistic autonomy, engaged exploration, experiment and, above all, the realisation of their own critical attitudes towards the material they work with.

The concept of the event also includes the idea of “inhabiting” spaces with art and theatre – spaces not originally intended for performance – and thus redefining how art and (student) creativity can exist and flourish outside the conventional and isolated contexts. To entrust the space to ideas that are non-normative, (self-)critical, painful, unusual, overlooked and risky. And, most of all, to trust the yet-unrealised potential of the students and to recognise their stories and points of view as the fundamental bridge to the art in which personal and principled relationships – and, parallel with them, the vital political agency of (performing) creativity – are established. One of the important components of Performative Day is undoubtedly the fact that some performances and interventions also speak about the anomalies or systemic problems of the very spaces in which they are created. This always requires courage.
