Now, Suddenly, I Was a Creature of Vice is a documentary performance based on conversations with women with experience of sex work in Slovenia. The performance approaches sex work as a legitimate form of labour, while exposing the ways in which social systems of stigma, control, and moral judgement mark individuals over time, regardless of their actual choices or circumstances. The collected stories do not form a single narrative but instead unfold as a series of fragments, contradictions, and positions that resist simplification. Through a nonconformist multimedia form that moves between confession, testimony, and theatrical construction, the performance raises questions of who speaks, who listens, and under what conditions speech becomes possible. Rather than explaining or judging, the work establishes a space of audibility in which the unequal valuation of bodies, labour, and voices within existing power relations becomes visible.

Content warning: the performance includes topics of sexual violence and abuse, human trafficking, physical and psychological violence, drug use, addiction, sexually transmitted diseases, self-harm and suicidal ideation.
