The play follows the Tyrone family over a single day, in which all the tense dynamics between family members are revealed, as are their struggles with their inner demons from the past. It paints an intimate portrait of four individuals who, each in their own way, face the painful truth while also revealing their deep, albeit damaged, connection. O’Neill conceived his play as an honest and merciless testimony about his own youth – a life marked by his mother’s morphine addiction and his father’s alcoholism. The play is an emotional odyssey that the author carefully kept safe and only allowed to be published after his death. This production explores the timeless themes of addiction, self-deception and unfulfilled dreams.
