A dance-sound performance merges experimental music with the sound of cicadas to emphasise the paradox of the summer – a stretch between comfort, languor and oppressive heat. Choreographer Rebecca Journo, in collaboration with sound artist Diane Barbé, creates an immersive experience where the sound of cicadas – the effect of the vibration of the convex membranes – becomes an indicator of the external temperature and the physical experience of heat. Journo immerses into this microworld from which she conjures images of women-insects and hallucinatory draughts. Against the background of Diane Barbé’s psychedelic sound modulations, her dance brings our charred bodies to life.
