Backstage at the 60th Maribor Theatre Festival

Boštjan Lah presents 25 backstage photographs from last year’s milestone 60th Borštnik Festival. A long-time photographer, he documents the urban, street, and cultural life of Maribor. Under the auspices of the Maribor Puppet Theatre and the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor, he dedicates himself each year to photographing theatrical backstage and stage activity, focusing on moments of rehearsal, the work of actors, directors, and stage workers. His dynamic images, infused with both collective energy and individual expression, invite viewers to explore their meanings. Backstage becomes a space of transition, tension, and creative energy. With a contemporary visual language rooted in street photography, Lah brings movement, light, and emotion to life, blending the intimacy of theatre with the rawness of the street.

The exhibition is open to the public every day during the festival.
