In Slovenian theatre, drama texts are increasingly being used merely as a basis for a production. Creators unscrupulously intervene with the text, shorten it and adapt it according to their needs and artistic vision they have regarding the staging.

But because a translation of a play is also intellectual property, this raises questions about the rights of the author. What are the interventions into a script intended for the stage, when are they reasonable, acceptable, when are they perhaps unnecessary or perfectly fine? How much dialogue is there in such cases with the author of the translation? And considering that a staging is a fusion of multiple authorships (original, translation, directorial, dramaturgical, costumes …), who has the final say?

This event is a part of the literary events programme co-financed by the Slovenian Book Agency.
